Mandala painting

What:

Mandala is a word in Sanskrit which means "circle" or "what encircles the centre". The centre is de meaning and what encircles it is a symbol or representation of that meaning. Not all manalas are round however. Mandalas are created to reming us of the cycle of life and death.
Mandalas are mostly in people's mind linked to the East, in particular Tibet. But mandalas are not at all confined to the eastern cultures. The Navajo Indians made sand-mandalas. And in Europe there are the "reosettes" in the cathedrals, which are mandalas just as well.

This course is a starting point. Thousand different kinds of mandalas axist with just as many meanings linked tot the expressed figures, which are in many cases geometrical. In such a short time we cannot develop all these possibilities. To clarify the most important, the basis of the mandala and to make sure you get an understanding about the mandals, is the goal of this course.
